Talk about a family affair…
In 1966, Jack Dunham, the older brother of Sherril and Gerald Dunham, was running a body shop and wrecker service in Quitman, Georgia. Tragically, Jack was killed in the line of duty while recovering a wrecked car from a roadside ditch.
Soon thereafter, Jack’s older brother Bill, took over the business. Then, in 1969, his younger twin brothers – Gerald and Sherril – decided to follow in their older brothers’ footsteps and begin lifelong careers in auto body repair. Gerald worked for Bill for several years before joining Cone Motors, the Cadillac dealership in Thomasville, while Sherril moved to California to work for Bob Wade of Wade’s Body and Frame.
In 1984, Sherril returned to Thomasville so he and Gerald could combine their experience and open a new family-run shop. That year, Dunham Body Shop was founded – continuing the Dunham family’s legacy in collision repair.
After many successful years, Sherril’s children – Chris and Katie – joined the business in 1988 and 1992, respectively. Upon Gerald’s passing in 2012, Chris took over management and Katie continued to run operations.
Today, Sherril remains active, with Chris and Katie managing the shop together. And with Katie’s son Joshua, now part of the team since 2022, the Dunham family tradition of quality auto body repair continues for future generations of valued customers.
